Ingredients

Strawberry Dole Whip
  • 2 cup frozen strawberries Keep frozen for the creamiest soft-serve texture.
  • 0.5 cup coconut cream or vanilla ice cream Use coconut cream for dairy-free; vanilla ice cream for a more classic flavor.
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar or honey Choose one; adjust to taste after blending.
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice Adds brightness and balances sweetness.
  • 0.25 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.25 tsp salt Use a pinch (measure small) to bring out strawberry flavor.

Equipment

  • 1 stand mixer

Method

Soften strawberries
  1. Let the frozen strawberries sit 5 minutes to slightly soften so they blend smoothly; watch for a tiny bit of give when pressed.
Blend to creamy soft serve
  1. Blend the strawberries, coconut cream (or vanilla ice cream), powdered sugar (or honey), lemon juice, vanilla extract, and salt until completely smooth and creamy; keep blending until no icy bits remain.
Adjust sweetness
  1. Taste the mixture and adjust sweetness by adding a little more powdered sugar or honey if needed; stop once the flavor tastes right.
Pipe and serve
  1. Transfer the mixture to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip and pipe into cups for the classic Dole Whip swirl; use a steady upward motion for a tall, ridged swirl.
Serve immediately
  1. Serve right away because it will melt quickly; if it thickens, re-blend briefly or work faster while piping.

Notes

Pro tip: blend aggressively until silky—any remaining ice crystals will stop the soft-serve texture. Refrigeration will make it melt and turn icy (best eaten immediately); freezing is not recommended. Dietary swap: choose coconut cream to keep this dairy-free while maintaining the same creamy swirl.
