Make the sauce in the slow cooker
- Whisk BBQ sauce, grape jelly, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder in the slow cooker until smooth, with no visible jelly streaks. Visual cue: the mixture should look evenly pink-brown and glossy.
- Add frozen fully cooked meatballs and stir to coat all sides. Visual cue: the meatballs should be covered in sauce rather than sitting dry.
Slow cook the meatballs
- Cover and cook on LOW for 3-4 hours, or on HIGH for 2 hours, until the sauce is actively simmering and the meatballs are heated through. Visual cue: bubbles should gather around the edges of the slow cooker lid.
- Stir once halfway through cooking so the glaze coats evenly. Visual cue: you should see the sauce re-cling to the meatballs after stirring.
Finish and serve
- Stir until the sauce looks glossy and thick, and the meatballs are heated through throughout. Visual cue: the coating should look smooth and shiny, not watery.
- Garnish with chopped fresh parsley for garnish, then keep on WARM and serve with toothpicks. Visual cue: parsley adds a fresh green top layer while sauce stays sticky and glossy.
Notes
For the glossiest finish, keep the lid on during the cook and only stir once halfway as directed; over-stirring late can thin the glaze. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days; reheat in the slow cooker or microwave until hot. Freeze yes—freeze in portions up to 2 months, then thaw overnight in the fridge and reheat until heated through. For a low-sugar swap, use a sugar-reduced grape jelly and consider reduced-sugar BBQ sauce.
