Ingredients

frozen fully cooked meatballs
  • 2 lb frozen fully cooked meatballs Frozen meatballs
BBQ sauce
  • 18 oz BBQ sauce Jarred
grape jelly
  • 1 cup grape jelly
Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
chopped fresh parsley for garnish
  • 1 chopped fresh parsley for garnish For garnish

Equipment

  • 1 slow cooker

Method

Make the sauce in the slow cooker
  1. Whisk BBQ sauce, grape jelly, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder in the slow cooker until smooth, with no visible jelly streaks. Visual cue: the mixture should look evenly pink-brown and glossy.
  2. Add frozen fully cooked meatballs and stir to coat all sides. Visual cue: the meatballs should be covered in sauce rather than sitting dry.
Slow cook the meatballs
  1. Cover and cook on LOW for 3-4 hours, or on HIGH for 2 hours, until the sauce is actively simmering and the meatballs are heated through. Visual cue: bubbles should gather around the edges of the slow cooker lid.
  2. Stir once halfway through cooking so the glaze coats evenly. Visual cue: you should see the sauce re-cling to the meatballs after stirring.
Finish and serve
  1. Stir until the sauce looks glossy and thick, and the meatballs are heated through throughout. Visual cue: the coating should look smooth and shiny, not watery.
  2. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley for garnish, then keep on WARM and serve with toothpicks. Visual cue: parsley adds a fresh green top layer while sauce stays sticky and glossy.

Notes

For the glossiest finish, keep the lid on during the cook and only stir once halfway as directed; over-stirring late can thin the glaze. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days; reheat in the slow cooker or microwave until hot. Freeze yes—freeze in portions up to 2 months, then thaw overnight in the fridge and reheat until heated through. For a low-sugar swap, use a sugar-reduced grape jelly and consider reduced-sugar BBQ sauce.
